The Strider is a fast Mech that works best countering other fast Mechs or performing hit-and-run attacks on slower Mechs with its missiles. |Strengths=At first glance, it would appear that the Mech Pack 2 version of the Strider is less capable than the previous Strider. However, analysis of the chassis shows that while top speed has been lowered, the base speed is higher. This allows the pilot to forgo engine upgrades in exchange for offensive potential. The agility and maneuverability of the chassis remains and the electronics combine with this element to create an extremely capable scout, the role for which the Strider is obviously designed. The removal of 2 missile slots, one in each arm mounted rack, does not severely diminish its combat capacity as the light weight of the chassis limited heavy weapons. Its other armaments are unchanged and with the Omni slot used for Energy weapons, the Strider is capable of carrying 3 ER Large Lasers, a significant punch for a sneaky 40 ton battlemech. A capable scout and insurgent due to its ECM and IFF Jammer, battlefield commanders will find the Strider to be as irritating behind defensive lines as ever. |Weaknesses=Though it retains its agility, the Strider was never designed for close combat, the limited torso performance illustrates this fact. The Raven, or Cougar remain useful options when countering this unit, though its stealthy nature can make detection difficult. The lack of Jump Jets limits its ability to deploy to good firing or sniper positions. A disappointing top speed makes this unit vulnerable to interception by heavier mechs and the electronics will decrease missile lock times significantly. The chin mounted Omni slots are vulnerable to damage and if Ballistics are carried, they will be located here. The legs are prominent and easily targeted even at long range, and a crippled Strider makes a poor, ugly and pitiful combatant. |Acceleration=17.59 |Best Acceleration=34.72 m/sec Hellhound |Worst Acceleration=5.75 m/sec Hollander II |Deceleration=26.39 |Best Deceleration=52.08 m/sec Hellhound |Worst Deceleration=8.27 m/sec Hollander II |Turn Rate=1.32 |Best Turn Rate=1.32 º/sec |Worst Turn Rate=0.79 º/sec |Twist Speed=90 |Best Twist Speed=90 º/sec |Worst Twist Speed=60º Battle Cobra |Elevation=50 |Best Elevation=80º Black Jack II |Worst Elevation=30º |Heat Capacity=28.3 |Best Heat Capacity=49.7 Hellhound |Worst Heat Capacity=33.3 Chimera |Torso Twist=90 |Best Torso Twist=120º |Worst Torso Twist=90º Strider |Damage Multiplier=2.2 |Best Damage Multiplier=2.2 |Worst Damage Multiplier=2.2 |Kill Bonus=410 |Best Kill Bonus=410 |Worst Kill Bonus=410 |Max Armor=255 |Best Max Armor=255 points |Worst Max Armor=243 points |Free Tonnage=28.1 |Best Free Tonnage=29.6 tons |Worst Free Tonnage=28.1 tons |base speed=82.0 |1st upgrade=0.25 |1st speed=87.0 |2nd upgrade=0.75 |2nd speed=92.01 |3rd upgrade=1.5 |3rd speed=97.01 |4th upgrade=2.5 |4th speed=102.02 |5th upgrade=3.75 |5th speed=107.02 |final upgrade=3.75 |top speed=107.02 |engine size=Small |increments=5 |Second Mech Picture Link=striderslots.jpg |Left Arm Slots=2 Slot Omni |Right Arm Slots=2 Slot Omni |Left Torso Slots=2 Slot Missile |Right Torso Slots=2 Slot Missile |Center Torso Slots=2 Slot Energy |ECM=No |BAP=Yes |Jump Jets=No |LAMS=Yes |Enhanced Optics=No |IFF Jammer=Yes |Advanced Gyro=No |Notes=The Strider was the very first 'Mech revealed for the MekPaks.
