{{Mech Description |Description=The HBK-5HG is a refit of a classic Inner Sphere Mech. The Hunchback is now capable of mounting the new Heavy Gauss Rifle, making it a considerable threat within its weight class. |Strengths=Generally not considered a long range threat, the Hunchback excels at penetrating and disrupting enemy defenses, its ECM and IFF making it extremely effective in this role. Though small, the Hunchback is a mech that no field commander wants to have running loose behind their lines. This mech can pack a serious punch and is fully capable of suddenly appearing in the midst of defenders, defeating much larger opponents and quickly retreating to cover. Its stealth equipment capacity, exceptional speed and responsive torso create a chassis well suited to close combat, infiltration and insurgency roles. |Weaknesses=The Hunchback is very fast compared to other Medium mechs, and this along with a comprehensive electronics suite make is tough to track and engage successfully. Best if destroyed or damaged at long range, before the powerful ballistic weapons it is capable of carrying can destroy valuable battlefield assets. While well protected, the 50 ton chassis is limited in the amount of damage it can sustain and still be a viable combat option. Counter this unit with fast Loki or Dragon units, which can nearly match the speed, but carry a bit more firepower. Its lack of Jump capability limits its ability to penetrate defenses. |Acceleration=7.78 |Best Acceleration=34.72 m/sec Hellhound |Worst Acceleration=5.75 m/sec Hollander II |Deceleration=11.67 |Best Deceleration=52.08 m/sec Hellhound |Worst Deceleration=8.27 m/sec Hollander II |Turn Rate=0.87 |Best Turn Rate=1.32 º/sec |Worst Turn Rate=0.79 º/sec |Twist Speed=80 |Best Twist Speed=90 º/sec |Worst Twist Speed=60º Battle Cobra |Elevation=50 |Best Elevation=80º Black Jack II |Worst Elevation=30º |Heat Capacity=40.7 |Best Heat Capacity=49.7 Hellhound |Worst Heat Capacity=33.3 Chimera |Torso Twist=120 |Best Torso Twist=360º Black Jack II |Worst Torso Twist=60º Black Hawk |Damage Multiplier=1.91 |Best Damage Multiplier=1.91 Hunchback |Worst Damage Multiplier=1.79 |Kill Bonus=350 |Best Kill Bonus=350 |Worst Kill Bonus=350 |Max Armor=303 |Best Max Armor=360 points Centurion |Worst Max Armor=303 points |Free Tonnage=35.6 |Best Free Tonnage=39.1 tons Black Hawk |Worst Free Tonnage=35.6 tons |base speed=79.99 |1st upgrade=0.5 |1st speed=86.0 |2nd upgrade=1.5 |2nd speed=92.02 |3rd upgrade=3.0 |3rd speed=98.03 |4th upgrade=5.0 |4th speed=104.04 |5th upgrade=7.5 |5th speed=110.05 |6th upgrade=10.5 |6th speed=116.06 |final upgrade=10.5 |top speed=116.06 |engine size=Mid |increments=6 |Second Mech Picture Link=hunchbackslots.jpg |Left Arm Slots=1 Slot Ballistic<br>2 Slot Energy |Right Arm Slots=1 Slot Ballistic<br>2 Slot Energy |Left Torso Slots=2 Slot Ammo Consuming |Center Torso Slots=2 Slot Missile |Special 1 Slots=4 Slot Ballistic |ECM=Yes |BAP=No |Jump Jets=No |LAMS=Yes |Enhanced Optics=No |IFF Jammer=Yes |Advanced Gyro=No |Related Mechs=Hunchback IIC - Clan version of the Hunchback. |Notes=This is one of the 'Mechs redesigned by David White for Mercenaries.
